Locale – World Golf Village
World Golf Village is a 6,300 acre planned community, which will have 18,000 residents when completed. Located conveniently off I-95 in St Johns County, the area is expected to host at least a million visitors each year to the World Golf Hall of Fame and surrounding golf courses.
At the center of the village is Kelly Lake, which is where the “Walk of Champions” is located by the Hall of Fame building. Each Hall of Fame member has their name and signature engraved on a large piece of granite, which creates a 1.2 mile walkway around Kelly Lake. An IMAX theater, shops, café and a 110-foot shrine tower. The Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center, which is 40,000 square feet, are also located close by.
Along with the biographical information for every Hall of Fame inductee, there are also sections within the Hall of Fame devoted to the heritage and history of golf, course design, golf organizations, equipment and golf attire.
The featured exhibits will change yearly and many of interactive displays allow the guest a hands-on experience. Included in the museum admission is a round on the 18-hole putting course, which includes a “Challenge Hole with Island Green” which is similar to the 17th hole, the TPC Sawgrass’ signature par-3 hole.
